Jets doubled by Armada to finish October

The Cape Breton Jets had their three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday, falling to the Basin Armada 4-2 at the New Waterford and District Community Centre.

With the loss, the Jets record falls to 3-2-0-1, while the Armada improve their record to 4-0-1-0, taking sole possession of third place in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget 'AAA' Hockey League.

Basin opened the scoring in the contest with Tyler Cook's goal at 5:33 of the first period, giving the Armada a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Jets would tie the game at the 9:40 mark of the second period with Nicholas Pastuck's shot beating Armada netminder Aidan Perry on the power play. Shortly after, Pastuck would give Cape Breton the lead with another power play marker at 8:51 of the period, sending the Jets to the dressing room with a 2-1 lead.

The Armada tied game nine seconds into the third period with Hayden Adam's beating Jets netminder Andre LeClair. Basin took the lead at the seven minute mark of the final stanza with a goal by Matthew Delano.

Morgan Lake secured the victory for Basin with 46 seconds left in the third period with an empty net goal, making the score 4-2.

Perry made 19 saves for Basin in the win, improving his record to 3-1. LeClair stopped 10 of 14 shots in the loss for Cape Breton, his record dropping to 1-1.

Cape Breton will have two weeks off from game action before returning to the ice to host the Sackville/East Hants ChiroCare Kings in a Remembrance Day contest on Nov. 11 at the New Waterford and District Community Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
