Share Weekend Preview: Cape Breton and Basin meet for second straight game

Old rivals will meet for the second straight game when the Cape Breton Jets host the Basin Armada on Saturday at the New Waterford and District Community Centre.The Jets and Armada met last Sunday at BMO Centre in Bedford, a game which saw Cape Breton defeat Basin 6-4. The last time the Armada were on the island, they beat the Jets 4-2 on Oct. 28 in New Waterford. The season series is currently tied 1-1.
Cape Breton currently sits in fifth place in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget 'AAA' Hockey League with 5-3-0-1 record for 11 points, this after sweeping a two-game weekend road trip last weekend in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Meanwhile, the Armada enter the weekend tied for second place in the league with the Admirals and Sackville/East Hants ChiroCare Kings. The team has a 6-1-1-0 record for 13 points. The team's only regulation loss was to the Jets.
The Jets are led offensively by Jason Johnson with five goals and four assists for nine points. Ryan Chisholm (three goals and five assists), Nathaniel Fuller (five goals and two assists), Nicholas Pastuck (three goals and four assists), Xavier Johnson (three goals and two assists) and Ben Leudy (one goal and four assists) round out the top five in points.
As for the Armada, they're led by Morgan Lake with five goals and three assists. Aaron Pedvis (two goals and five assists), Matthew Burden (two goals and five assists), Conor Greenfield (no goals and six assists), Connor Stone (two goals and three assists), Ben Bryant (two goals and three assists) and Maxwell Pellerine (one goal and four assists) round out the offensive.
In goal, Jonathan Dolomont has appeared in six games for the Jets this season. He has a 3-3 record with a 2.81 goals-against-average and a 0.870 save percentage. Andre LeClair has played in three games posting a 2-1 record with a 2.67 goals-against-average and 0.910 save percentage.
Aidan Perry and Ty Allison hold down the goaltending duties for the Armada this year. Perry has appeared in five games posting a 4-1 record with a 1.35 goals-against-average and a 0.930 save percentage. Allison has played in three games and has a 2-1 record with a 3.00 goals-against-average and a 0.860 save percentage.
Following Saturday's game, the Jets will hit the road to begin a four-game road trip. The team will play the Valley Wildcats on Dec. 2, before facing the Dartmouth Voyageurs on Dec. 3. The next weekend, the team is back on the road to play the Admirals on Dec. 9 and Basin Armada on Dec. 10.
Cape Breton's next home game, after Saturday, will be Dec. 16 when they host the Voyageurs at 7:30 p.m. at the New Waterford and District Community Centre.
