The Jets, who currently sit in third place in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget 'AAA' Hockey League standings, will begin the road trip on Saturday with a meeting against the Valley Wildcats. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. at the Kentville Centennial Arena in Kentville.
Cape Breton (6-3-0-1) and Valley (5-3-1-1) last met on Oct. 14 in Berwick, a game which saw the Jets blank the Wildcats 5-0 at the Kings Mutual Century Centre. The Jets lead the season series 1-0.
The Jets enter the weekend led offensively by Jason Johnson with five goals and five assists for 10 points. Nathaniel Fuller (six goals and three assists), Ryan Chisholm (four goals and five assists), Nicholas Pastuck (three goals and five assists), Xavier Johnson (three goals and three assists) and Ben Leudy (two goals an four assists) round out the top players in points.
As for the Wildcats, William Churchill leads the way with five goals and two assists for seven points. Keegan Cook (three goals and one assists), Maxwell Longmire (two goals and one assist), Zach LeBlanc (two goals and one assist), Aidan Clarke (one goal and two assists), Tyler Smith (one goal and two assists), Connor Deluney (one goal and two assists) and Leon Bouchard (three assists) are also among the team's top point getters.
Jonathan Dolomont has appeared in seven games for the Jets, posting a 4-3 record with a 2.56 goals-against-average and a 0.880 save percentage. Meanwhile, Andre LeClair has played in three games and has a record of 2-1 with a 2.67 goals-against-average and a 0.910 save percentage.
Mason Kaizer and Oliver McMahon have shared the goaltending duties for the Wildcats. In five games, Kaizer has a 2-3 record with a 1.93 goals-against-average and a 0.920 save percentage. As for McMahon, he's 3-2 with a 2.56 goals-against-average in five contests.
Following Saturday's game, the team will continue the road trip with a meeting with the first place Dartmouth Voyageurs on Sunday. Puck drop is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the Shearwater Arena in Shearwater.
The Jets and Voyageurs (8-2-1-0) have met once this season. The teams met on Oct. 21 at the New Waterford and District Community Centre, a game which saw the Jets edge the Dartmouth squad 6-5.
Dartmouth, who has the most goals in the league, is led offensively by two of the league's top players in Josh Crooks and Cole Good.
Crooks has seven goals and eight assists for 15 points, while Good has two goals and 13 assists for 15 points. Hayden Welburn (six goals and four assists), Benjamin Dewar (six goals and three assists), Colby Giusti (seven goals and one assist), Brendon Buchanan (seven goals and one assist) and James Harrison (two goals and six assists) round out the balanced attack.
In goal, Aidan Durnford and Joshua McCarther is the team's goaltending duo. Durnford has a 5-1 record with a 2.00 goals-against-average and a 0.920 save percentage. Meanwhile, McCarther has a 3-2 record with a 2.36 goals-against-average and a 0.910 save percentage.
Following this weekend's road trip, the team will go back on the road the following weekend for games against the Admirals on Dec. 9 and the Basin Armada on Dec. 10. The team doesn't return to home ice until Dec. 16 when they host the Voyageurs.
