The win moves Cape Breton into first place in the league standings for the time being with a 10-4-0-1 record. As for the Voyageurs, the team falls to 10-5-1-0 and are tied with the Jets for top spot in the league with 21 points.
Cape Breton jumped out to an early lead with Nathaniel Fuller scoring only 22 seconds into the contest. Fuller added another goal a short time later, making the score 2-0 at 10:16 of the first period. Matthew MacIntosh put the hometown Jets up 3-0 before the first frame was over with a marker at 4:51 of the period.
In the second period, River Ryan's Adam Wilson put the Cape Breton club up 4-0 early in the stanza, but the Voyageurs answered cutting the Jets leads to two with goals by Josh Crooks and Colby Giusti, sending the team's to the dressing room with a 4-2 game.
The Jets secured the win with a pair of third period goals by Aiden Donovan and MacIntosh with his second of the game, as Cape Breton picked up the 6-2 victory.
Jonathan Dolomont made 22 saves in the win for Cape Breton, improving his record to 7-3. Joshua McCarther was tagged with the loss for Dartmouth, stopping 16 of 22 shots, his record falling to 4-4.
Cape Breton will return to action in the new year when they host the Basin Armada on January 6th, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at the New Waterford and District Community Centre.
